Historic Renovation/New Addition Design
Featuring a mix of historical renovation and a modern addition with historical bent, the Weinmann Building project highlights Rueter Associates Architects' flexible and innovative approach to design. This mixed use design brings both old and new worlds into unison, harmonizing this traditional Ann Arbor landmark with contemporary use and functionality.
The seamless integration of the historic Weinmann Building with a new addition on the back presented several architectural challenges. With different floor to floor heights in the old and new buildings, a unique cornerpost elevator design was utilized to create accessible interchange between the two buildings. A spacious condominium occupies the top floor, featuring an expansive deck that invites the beautiful city skyline into the space. Interior apartments artfully craft natural lighting into a clean design approach, creating a feeling of expanse within the luxurious interior.
